CACH Can Get You Into University or College

If when you first applied at a university or college you weren't accepted, you have another oppurtunity! CACH will help place you at a university or college.

The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) is an integrated referral service for Post-School Education and Training institutions and students. It could be your ticket into university or college.

This service is for matriculants who qualify for university entrance (a bachelor's pass) but have not been offered a place. Through CACH, you can receive career advice, referral to other opportunities such as being referred to other universities, TVET college opportunities, artisan development opportunities and other possibilities.

They’ll also help you if you’re not sure about where you should study or which career you want to follow. CASH also works to ensure that students do not become victims of bogus institutions.

You can access CACH in various ways once it opens for applications:

  • Website:
  • WhatsApp Chatbot: 078 776 8660
  • USSD: *134*225#
  • Facebook: CACH_SA

Individuals signing up will need to capture their details including the field of study and programme choice, as well as accept and reject offers on the CASH system.

CACH usually opens around January/February and they close at the end of March/April.

Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande, in a previous briefing said:

The CACH is the first phase of what will in the future become the Central Applications Service (CAS) for the PSET system.

You can also contact the Department’s Career Development Service (CDS) for any possibilities available for you, on 086 999 0123.
