The 2024 matric timetable features several notable changes, including the early scheduling of Computer Applications Technology (CAT) and Information Technology (IT) practicals. Additionally, all official languages will commence with Paper 3.
To ensure the integrity and credibility of the exams, quality assurance body Umalusi has confirmed that the necessary systems and processes are in place. Despite concerns about security, transport, and the printing of exam papers, Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube remains confident in the Department's preparedness.
We are constantly looking at how to modernise the exam process, with an eye toward digitising management to minimise human error and manipulation.
As the exams conclude in November, attention will turn to the processing of results. The final matric results are expected to be announced by Minister Gwarube on Thursday, 15 January 2025.
Matriculants can anticipate receiving their results on the following day, Friday, 16 January 2025, from their respective schools or examination centers or by accessing them online.
