The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) Class of 2024 has officially received their matric results. A total of 16,304 learners registered to sit for the 2024 IEB National Senior Certificate exams. This group comprised 14,990 full-time students and 1,314 part-time candidates, who sat the exams at 275 centres across South Africa.
The IEB has announced that the Class of 2024 achieved an impressive pass rate of 98.47%.
Breakdown of IEB Matric Pass Rates
- Bachelors Passes: 89.37%
- Diploma Passes: 7.56%
- Higher Certificate Passes: 1.53%
- Endorsed Passes: 0.02%
This year, the IEB Class of 2024 also set a new record by achieving the highest degree study pass rate in the past five years.
How to Check Your IEB Matric Results
Matric candidates can access their final results in the following ways:

Through your school: The IEB will first send the results to schools, which will then distribute them to the students.

Online: You can check your results online via the official IEB website when they are released.

SMS: Results can also be received via SMS. If the IEB has your cellphone number, your results will be sent automatically. Alternatively, you can register for SMS results by sending an SMS to 35135.

What to Do If You're Unhappy With Your IEB Matric Results
If you're not satisfied with your matric results, there are options to challenge them:

Re-mark: You can apply for a re-mark of your papers, with applications closing on 31 January 2025. The re-marked results will be released on 1 March 2025.

Rewrite: If you wish to rewrite any exams, the next opportunity will be in May/June 2025. Applications for the May 2025 rewrite will be open from 1 March to 14 March.
Your UMALUSI certificate and official statement of results will be sent to your school in April 2025, following the release of the matric results.
UMALUSI also announced that of the subjects submitted for standardisation, 42 subjects will have their raw marks accepted, 8 subjects will receive upward adjustments, and 8 subjects will experience downward adjustments.
Candidates implicated in any irregularities will have their results nullified by the IEB.
