The University of South Africa (Unisa) is preparing for the 2025 academic year, with many students receiving financial support from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). NSFAS has announced how allowances for Unisa students will be disbursed in July 2025.
NSFAS Funding for Unisa Students
NSFAS provides bursaries and student loans to eligible students enrolled in accredited universities and TVET colleges. Funding covers tuition, registration fees, and allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
Many Unisa students benefit from NSFAS support.
How Unisa NSFAS Allowances Will Be Paid in July 2025
Unisa has confirmed that all NSFAS-funded students will receive their allowances via electronic funds transfer (EFT) directly into their bank accounts. This payment method aligns with NSFAS procedures for university students.
Students who notice discrepancies in their allowances should contact Unisa’s student funding department at DSF-NSFAS [at] unisa.ac.za (DSF-NSFAS[at]unisa[dot]ac[dot]za).
From July 2025, NSFAS allowances will be paid on the 29th of the month.
How to Capture Bank Details for NSFAS Allowance Payments
To receive NSFAS allowances, students must ensure their bank details are correctly submitted and verified. Follow these steps:
-
Open the link sent to your myLife email.
-
Enter your banking details.
-
Wait for the bank to complete the verification process.
Unisa reminds students that allowances will only be deposited into bank accounts registered in their name. Third-party accounts will not be accepted, as bank details must match the student's Unisa ID number.
Students are urged to monitor their bank verification status regularly to avoid payment delays. If resubmission is required, it must be done promptly.
