Unisa 2025 Late Applications Now Open

The University of South Africa (Unisa), the largest university in South Africa, is now accepting late applications for the 2025 academic year.

Unisa's unique Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) approach allows students to learn entirely online, eliminating the need for traditional in-person classes. This flexible model makes Unisa an ideal choice for individuals with busy schedules, diverse lifestyles, and varying commitments.

Late applications are now available at Unisa for a selection of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.

Key Dates for Unisa 2025 Late Applications

  • Undergraduate: Applications open until 27 January 2025.
  • Postgraduate: Applications open until 31 January 2025.

Unisa Application 2025

To get ready to submit your Unisa application, make sure you have a Copy of your school qualifications so your diploma, matric certificate, etc. as well as a Copy of ID or passport depending on whether you are a South African citizen or international student.

You will also need a valid email address, a valid cellphone number and money for your Unisa application fees.

For Unisa 2025 applications, the Unisa application fee is R140.

How To Apply

Unisa applications must be done online via the Unisa website. Here's a step by step guide to applying to Unisa online:

  1. To start your Unisa application, you’ll go to the Unisa ‘apply for admission’ page.  
  2. Once you're there, you will see options for which qualification you want to apply to.
  3. Choose the type of qualification you're applying for.
  4. Read the information then click on 'Start the process' and again read the information then click on 'Proceed to ODL and Unisa'.
  5. Then you need to scroll back to the top and click on the circle with a number 2 inside which says 'Are you certain about your career?' 
  6. Read the information and then scroll back to the top and click on the circle with a number 3 inside which says 'Choose or find your qualification?'. 
  7. You can then select your qualification by college or level.
  8. Once here, you will find the different qualifications Unisa offers in that college/faculty.
  9. If you click on the different qualifications, you will find information such as admission requirements and if you click on 'Registration and curriculum information', you will find the modules that belong to that specific qualification.  
  10. You then head back to the page where it shows the different qualifications offered with the step circles on top.
  11. You should see the qualification you want to apply for and should now click on the circle with a number 4 inside which says 'Apply for admission' and then click on 'CLICK HERE to apply online.
  12. In the first section, click on the bubble next to the qualification you're studying towards. 
  13. If you already have a student number, click yes. If not, click no.
  14. Then you need to fill in your details and follow the prompts. Once you're done, you'll need to submit documents.
  15. To submit documents, you should go to the Unisa ‘application tool’ page.
  16. Click on the bubble next to 'Documents' and fill in your information.
  17. Then click on choose file and select the corresponding files from your device and then click on 'Upload'
  18. When you’re done with all your documents, click on 'Submit documents and continue' and then you need to pay the application fee.
