Subtrop LINDSEY MILNE Bursary Scheme 2021

Students awarded a bursary by SUBTROP will be required to work for SUBTROP for a period of one year for each year that the bursary is awarded, provided that a position is available.

If no position is available at the time that the recipient completes his/her degree, there will be no obligation to SUBTROP.

Recipients of the bursary will be required to focus their seminars and projects on subtropical crops (avocado, mango, litchi) where possible.

Macadamias South Africa (SAMAC) Bursary 2021

Macadamias South Africa NPC (better known as SAMAC) is inviting students to apply for bursaries. The bursaries are open to students who intend to pursue or are pursuing their studies in the field of Agriculture.

SAMAC’s bursary scheme aims to help previously disadvantaged people who are academically deserving. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) 2021 Bursary

The South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) makes bursaries available to individuals from historically disadvantaged groups for studies to towards a BSc (Agric) or equivalent degrees majoring in Horticultural Science or Agricultural Economics / Agribusiness.

Aim of bursary is to ensure that appropriately trained graduates of colour enter the South African avocado industry to enable continued growth of the sector.

Duration of bursary

Potato Industry Development Trust (PIDT) Bursaries 2021

The Potato Industry Development Trust, through Potatoes South Africa, provides bursaries to diploma, undergraduate and post graduate students studying agriculture at a tertiary institution in South Africa.

Applications from students who have an interest in pursuing a research in a potato related field will receive priority.

The primary goals for providing these bursaries are as follows:

Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute (EATI) Bursary 2021

The Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute (EATI) provides education, training and skills to students, mostly specialising in agricultural production education and training.

It is a Chief Directorate within the Western Cape Department of Agriculture.

The bursary is only open to applicants applying for courses at the EATI.

This includes the following courses:

South African National Seed Organization (SANSOR) Bursary 2021

SANSOR is offering bursaries to students pursuing their post-graduate degrees (Honours, Masters and Doctorate). This bursary is aimed at students who aim to go into the seed industry.

Students doing research in the following areas qualify: 

  • Plant Breeding
  • Plant Pathology
  • Entomology
  • Agronomy
  • Horticulture
  • Pasture Science
  • Biotechnology
  • Plant Physiology
  • Genetics
  • Molecular Plant Biology.

Santam Bursary 2021

The Santam bursary is for students who will be in their second, third or final year of undergraduate studies. It is also for students who will be doing an Honours degree next year in the study programmes listed below.

Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Honours degree in

Motsepe Foundation Bursary

The Motsepe Foundation Bursary is open to students studying degrees in Sciences, Engineering / Entrepreneurship, Technology, Mathematics, Business Studies, Medical Studies, Law, Art and Agriculture.

Motsepe Foundation is offering 100 bursaries for the deserving students in the following disciplines:

Citrus Academy Bursary 2021

The Citrus Academy is a non-profit company that was established by the Citrus Growers' Association of Southern Africa to enable human resource development in the Southern African citrus industry.

The Academy is tasked with addressing specific challenges faced by the industry, being low production skills levels, employment equity, scarce and critical skills, black economic empowerment, and the quality of skills delivery.

Latest Bursaries

This bursary is awarded to a first year student who has excelled in sport during his/her time at high school. The main focus is on his/her matric year.
