South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) 2019 Bursary

The South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) makes bursaries available to individuals from historically disadvantaged groups for studies to towards a BSc (Agric) or equivalent degrees majoring in Horticultural Science or Agricultural Economics / Agribusiness.

Aim of bursary is to ensure that appropriately trained graduates of colour enter the South African avocado industry to enable continued growth of the sector.

Duration of bursary

Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank) Bursary 2019

Land Bank is committed to creating opportunities for youth to participate in the agricultural sector.

One of the ways in which we do this is through the Land Bank Bursary Scheme.  

The programme is also focused on developing a pipeline of young talent not only to feed directly into Land Bank, but into the agricultural sector at large.

Key Performance Areas Preference is given to the following fields:

• Agricultural related studies 

• Finance; Internal Audit & Procurement 

• Project Management

NEW ZEALAND: Scholarships for International Tertiary Students and Commonwealth Scholarship 2020

Programme outline

The New Zealand Aid Programme offers scholarships to potential applicants from eligible African countries
(including South Africa) who are motivated to make a difference at home. Applications are now open for
studies in 2020.

Types of scholarships available

There are two types of scholarships available:

1) New Zealand Scholarship for International Tertiary
Students, and

Subtrop LINDSEY MILNE Bursary Scheme

Students awarded a bursary by SUBTROP will be required to work for SUBTROP for a period of one year for each year that the bursary is awarded, provided that a position is available.

If no position is available at the time that the recipient completes his/her degree, there will be no obligation to SUBTROP.

Recipients of the bursary will be required to focus their seminars and projects on subtropical crops (avocado, mango, litchi) where possible.

AIM OF THE BURSARY

BRAZIL: Bachelor's and Postgraduate Scholarships

The Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students (PEC-G), officially created in 1965 by Decree 55,613 and currently ruled by Decree 7,948/2013, provides students from developing countries with which Brazil maintains educational, cultural or scientific and technological agreements the opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies in Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The list of courses offered may change.

The bursary will cover the cost of registration, tuition, books and residence fees for up to the maximum amount of R 37 500 per annum
