The STANLIB Bursary Sponsorship Programme funds tertiary level education, allowing previously disadvantaged students the opportunity to study at any university in South Africa. The programme has been running since 2005, and has funded 42 students since inception.
STANLIB offers a number of bursaries each year for students studying towards the following qualifications:
Finance, Human Resources, Investment Management, Marketing and Communications, IT, Actuarial Science, Economics, Operations
The Harmony Bursary Scheme awards successful applicants, bursaries for full time study at accredited tertiary institutions. The scheme covers tuition and residence fees, the cost of prescribed text books and also provides a personal allowance.
The scheme is designed to contribute to the development of historically disadvantaged South Africans.
For the year 2015 preference is given to the following fields which are functional to the mining industry:

IT (Information technology)

Monash South Africa scholarships are available to South African and International students. Scholarships are offered to students to encourage and reward academic excellence in previous studies. The Monash South Africa scholarship process occurs twice a year in November and May. Successful applicants will be notified respectively in December and June.
The Portuguese National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is offering a scholarship for PhD graduates. This scholarship will be awarded in collaboration with the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre).

You have the chance to study in Ireland! The Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme is aimed at offering fully-funded scholarship opportunities to South African students. Selected students will be chosen to study at Master’s level in Ireland’s Higher Education Institutions.
Students from Historically Disadvantaged Institutions are encouraged to apply.
Matric learners are invitied to take part in the The University of Free State star of stars competition.
Learners who are top academic achievers and residing in the Free State province will be considered. Applicants must have applied to study at the UFS before the closing date in order to enter the Star of Stars competition.
