The Gallagher Scholarship is open to first-year students who have great academic achievements and evidence of leadership potential. 

Race, gender, and religion are not factors that are considered in the scholarship. 

The scholarship is open to the following fields: 

  • Architecture
  • Commerce
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • History
  • Law
  • Language
  • Math
  • Medicine
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Science
  • Technology

Candidate Requirements: 

  • South African citizen
  • Excellent academic record
  • Entering your 1st year of study in 2021
  • Applied to study at the University of Cape Town and received conditional acceptance
  • Achieved high results in all competency areas of the National Benchmark Test
  • Show evidence of a high level of ethical values (this includes: commitment to making a difference in the country, believing that progress can be achieved without violence, strong leadership potential)

  3. A Photograph of You
  4. Proof of Income: Copies of paychecks, pension documents, or letter from an employer
  5. OPTIONAL: Proof of NBT Results
  6. OPTIONAL: Conditional Acceptance: Copy of the email you received with your UCT Conditional Acceptance


Latest Bursaries

Students awarded a bursary by SUBTROP will be required to work for SUBTROP for a period of one year for each year that the bursary is awarded, provided that a position is available.

This bursary is awarded to a first year student who has excelled in sport during his/her time at high school. The main focus is on his/her matric year.
