Bursary Details: 

The Company has a programme to train students either at Universities, Universities of Techology and CETA Learnerships in order to ensure sufficient numbers of graduates and technicians for the company’s future needs. 

This formal education is followed up by on the job training and mentorship under the supervision of skilled, trained and professional people. 

The Haw &Inglis Group offers vac work placements as well as experiential training in the following disciplines:

  • BUILDING
  • CIVIL ENGINEERING
  • MECHANICAL
  • SCHOLARSHIP BURSARIES

Students from Grade 10, excelling in both Mathematics and Science, can apply to the Company for a bursary. The students must have an interest in the Civil and Building Construction Industry to be considered.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: SEPTEMBER EACH YEAR

Candidate Requirements: 

The applicant must have passed all subjects in the previous semester; A keen interest in the civil and building construction industry; The ability and willingness to work in rural areas; Must enjoy the outdoors; Good communication and leadership skills with an ability to take the initiative

Conditions of Bursary: 

It is customary for potential bursary candidates to work for the company for at least a year after their matriculation from school in order to give candidates the opportunity to judge whether they enjoy this type of work and industry and also to give the Company an opportunity to assess the candidate.

Thereafter, successful candidates will be sponsored to study Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Building Science at a University or University of Technology.

Latest Bursaries

To address some of the skills shortages identified in the Sector Skills Plan, the W&RSETA established a Bursary Scheme in 2011 which is administered by the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and Career Wise. The Scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance to needy students to study wholesale and retail qualifications.

Applications for the SASSETA bursary are now open.

Preference will be given to applicants from the following fields of study:

  • ICT Security
  • Cyber Crime Investigations
  • Law and BSc with the intent of becoming Trademark
  • Attorney
  • LLB
  • Computer Network and Systems Engineer

The South African Fulbright Foreign Student Programme provides grants for South African university graduates to pursue post-graduate studies at a United States university in any subject (excludes MBA and studies that require contact with patients).

Shoprite is offering 60 bursaries to students studying towards a Diploma in Retail Business Management.

Shoprite is offering 20 bursaries to Pharmacy students.
