Mandela Rhodes Scholarship 2021

Bursary Details: 

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship is aimed at providing young Africans with financial support and leadership skills. 

The Scholarship is for postgraduate study (Honours and Masters degrees) in any field, with the exception of MBAs. Recipients can study at any recognised South African institution of higher education.

Closing date: 20 April 2021. 

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Between the ages of 19 and 29
  • Citizen of any African country (However, the scholarship is for study in South Africa, at a South African institution of higher education - you cannot study in your home country.)
  • Have a first degree with above average academic results (70% or upper second)
  • Must have already assumed leadership and made an impact on your campus or community.

The scholarship will be awarded to women students who are pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Humanities at UCT. Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of leadership in social justice and social activism.
