Upstream Training Trust bursary 2021


Field of Study: 

Bursary Details: 

The Upstream Training Trust is a non-profit organisation which aims to provide specialised human skills to contribute towards the search for oil and gas. The bursary awarded is to the maximum value of R65 000.

It is open to students studying in the following fields:

  • Natural science
  • Engineering Technology which are relevant to the petroleum industry, such as
  • Geology
  • Geophysics
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Mining engineering
  • Civil engineering
  • Mechanical engineering 
  • Chemical engineering

Candidate Requirements: 

In order to qualify for this bursary, candidates must:

  • Be a South African citizen OR South African resident
  • Have completed Matric
  • Achieved good results in English, Science and Mathematics in grade 12
  • Be studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Be studying or have been conditionally accepted to study at a University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • Have a good tertiary academic record

Conditions of Bursary: 

Recipients of this bursary may not accept other bursaries and scholarships without receiving consent from the Upstream Training Bursary.

Latest Bursaries

The Portuguese National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is offering a scholarship for PhD graduates. This scholarship will be awarded in collaboration with the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre).

Through this scholarship programme, ten PhD grants will be offered to candidates studying in the following fields:

You have the chance to study in Ireland! The Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme is aimed at offering fully-funded scholarship opportunities to South African students. Selected students will be chosen to study at Master’s level in Ireland’s Higher Education Institutions.

Students from Historically Disadvantaged Institutions are encouraged to apply.

Matric learners are invitied to take part in the The University of Free State star of stars competition. 

Learners who are top academic achievers and residing in the Free State province will be considered. Applicants must have applied to study at the UFS before the closing date in order to enter the Star of Stars competition.

SATI is awarding bursaries for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies.
