How To Gain Access To The NSFAS Consent Form

If you have applied to NSFAS and were asked to complete a consent form so that your application is completed, keep reading to find out how to gain access to it.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government student bursary scheme which receives its funding budget from, and reports to the Department of Higher Education and Training.

NSFAS offers bursaries for South African students studying at public universities and TVET colleges. They cover tuition fees, accommodation fees and give students a transport, living and book allowance.

NSFAS has sent some applicants a consent form which needs to be completed and returned so that their application is completed.

Click here to access the consent form: NSFAS Consent form

Once you have completed the form go to http://my.nsfas.org.za and login. You will receive the option to upload your outstanding supporting documents. Once the documents have been uploaded click on the tab 'Submit Documents'.

The process is complete once all documents are uploaded and you receive notification that says 'Outstanding application documents submitted successfully uploaded'.

If you did upload the documents but there was a problem the most common issue is that the documents are not clear.  If you have a problem taking photos with your cellphone you can go to a NSFAS or a NYDA office and they will assist you. If there is not a NSFAS or NYDA office near you, and you have applied to a college or varsity then ask their fees office to assist you.

Once you've applied and you want to access your application status:

  • Login on the myNSFAS student portal through this link: https://bit.ly/2SWFVh3
  • Enter your username and password, then click SIGN IN!
  • Click on Track Funding Progress.
  • Once you have followed these three easy steps, you will be able to see whether you are funded or not. It may take some time for your application to be successful so please be patient.

Application results will be communicated to all applicants once NSFAS received confirmation from the institution that an academic offer has been made to you. NSFAS will inform you of their decision before the start of the academic year and this will be done through SMS, email as well as your myNSFAS account.

Once you are approved for NSFAS funding, the funding covers you until you finish your qualification. This does however depend on whether you continue to meet the academic criteria. You just need to focus on studying and passing your modules to secure your continued funding.
