Good news, NSFAS has extended their applications closing date for those wanting funding for their 2021 studies. This is great for those who need to finalise a few things with their applications and those who didn't get a chance to apply yet.

NSFAS applications for 2021 funding are now set to close on 1 December 2020 at 23:59.

This announcement came because NSFAS is seeing high traffic when it comes to the myNSFAS portal because everyone wants to meet the application deadline and this leads to the system becoming slow. There has also been an increase of traffic to the website due to fake news which was spread to existing beneficiaries.

NSFAS said on their social media page:

As expected, we are experiencing high traffic volumes to the myNSFAS portal as everyone rushes to meet the application deadline which results in the system becoming slow. This traffic is also impacted by the Fake News shared over the weekend, causing unnecessary panic to all applicants who have already applied for 2021.

The system is still open for those who want to apply for 2021 funding and all applications which were already submitted will be processed. If you have not applied yet, you should then go to http://nsfas.org.za, click myNSFAS and apply. Further updates will be communicated if necessary, said NSFAS.

NSFAS has emphasised that no further extension will be offered after this.
