Do you qualify for a TVET College bursary?

Do you need financial assistance in order to study further? Pursuing a higher education through a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College might be the answer.

Each year public TVET College receive bursary funding from the Department of Higher Education and Training which is administered through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

NSFAS Approves 300 000 Funding Applications

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced the completion of all assessments of the 2019 applications of first time students.

In a statement issued, the scheme said of the 417 000 applications received, more than 300 000 students have been given the stamp of approval, pending registration at public institutions for NSFAS funded qualifications.

In December, NSFAS Administrator Randall Carolissen called for a review of the 109 000 applications that were initially unsuccessful for the 2019 academic year. 

All Systems Go For NSFAS 2019 Applications

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially tested the improved online application system which is aimed at improving the time at which users take in applying for funding.

“This is an effort to showcase the improved efficient process. The aim and focus was to make the online application system simpler for applicants, with the process shorter and reactive, providing feedback to the applicants within a week,” NSFAS said.

Latest Bursaries

The Sage External Bursary is aimed at funding undergraduate students. Applicants must be studying at a public university in South Africa.

The purpose of the Amazon bursary aims to develop a talent pipeline for Amazon (AWS) in South Africa. Bursaries are awarded to students in fields relevant to the technology sector.

Interested in studying IT? The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) is inviting applicants to apply for a bursary. 

The bursary will provide financial support to full time students enabling them to complete their education and pursue a career which will help to grow the IT industry and the South African economy.

The Citrus Academy bursary is open to any person studying at a registered tertiary education institution. Students must be studying in a field related to citrus production or research.

The Western Cape Provincial Treasury launched this bursary programme in 2008. Through the programme, youth will have the opportunity to access tertiary education.
