FAQ: NSFAS Applications and Appeals

When will I know if I've been accepted?

Application results will be released after the institutions confirm with NSFAS that an academic offer has been made to you. This will be communicated to students before the start of the year.

I have applied for funding and I have an application number but I haven't received feedback.

Ways to Repay your NSFAS Loans

In December 2017, the President announced that NSFAS will offer bursaries as a form of free education rather than loans that need to be paid back. Students who received a NSFAS loan before the president's address need to repay the loaned amount as per the agreement form that was signed. If you only started being funded by NSFAS in 2018, there is no need to pay back any money as you received a bursary.

FAQ: NSFAS Contact Details, Accounts and One Time Pins

What if I don't have a cellphone?

You will need a phone, a valid cellphone number and your own email address. You may use the cellphone and number of a trusted guardian or relative but it would be better if you had your own. A cellphone number can only be used by one applicant as the number is used to create your personal myNSFAS account which is used to apply for funding.

What do I do if I no longer use the email or cell number I registered with. How can I retrieve my One Time Pin (OTP)?

Which TVET courses does NSFAS fund?
