UCT Online High School's Learning Liberated Scholarship Programme

Bursary Details

UCT Online High School recently launched the Learning Liberated Scholarship Programme, a programme dedicated to making online education as affordable as possible, by covering 50% of the monthly UCT Online High School tuition fee, to provide more education opportunities to bright young South Africans.

Candidate Requirements

In order to apply for the scholarship, your child must: 

• be a grade 8 to 11 learner
• be a South African citizen
• reside in South Africa
• have at least one guardian who is a South African citizen
• be age appropriate for the grade they are applying for (grades 8–11)
• register to complete the CAPS curriculum and work towards a National Senior Certificate (NSC)
• demonstrate financial need (i.e. your family household income may not exceed R350,000 per annum or R29,000 per month)
• obtain a minimum 60% average in English (Home Language) and Maths
• have aspirations to pursue a tertiary education and further their career after school
• have access to stable internet, a laptop or desktop, a printer and UPS devices
• have a safe learning environment with necessary support from at least one adult supervisor
• submit an Applicant Reference Letter from a senior member of their current school
• submit an Aspirations & Academic Journey Letter

Bursary Inclusion

The Learning Liberated Scholarship Programme will cover 50% of your child's tuition fee and 100% of the final grade 12 SACAI examination fee. This means that you only be responsible for the remaining 50% of the tuition fee for the duration of the scholarship period

You will also need to cover the costs for stationery, language setworks, textbooks (if required), a laptop or desktop computer, internet access, a printer and headphones.

The programme offers partial scholarships in order to support a larger number of learners, creating a tangible impact for a wider group. 

What’s more, partial scholarships have been shown to foster a sense of commitment to academic performance, which leads to higher rates of success among scholarship recipients.
