If you were unsuccessful in obtaining your Senior Certificate with endorsement or an equivalent matric qualification and you wish to study further at a university, you will need a matric exemption certificate.

How To Apply

You will need to get a form called the M30e form using the following resources:

  • Admissions Offices of universities
  • Download the form from the Matriculation Board Website, by clicking here
  • Request it via an e-mail addressed to applications [at] usaf.ac.za (applications[at]usaf[dot]ac[dot]za)
  • Request that the form is faxed to you.

To apply for. the exemption, you will need to pay the application fee which is R660. This is non-refundable, so it is advised you take the online assessment to see if you are eligible for exemption before applying and spending R660.

The board will take at least 5-10 days working days to process the applications. If you qualify, a provisional letter will be sent and that letter will be able to facilitate your admission to a South African public university. This is granted that the applicant has met the requirements at the university.
