Since its inception, the BEEI has provided over one million work opportunities through previous phases of the programme.

Applications Open 22 April 2025

Applications for teaching assistant positions under Phase 5 will officially open on 22 April 2025. The programme will be open to youth aged 18 to 34, who do not turn 35 before the end of March 2026.

The DBE is encouraging prospective applicants to stay updated through its social media channels and official platforms.

The DBE will communicate formally through its platforms, including media statements, once the system is ready to launch.

Apply Through SAYouth.mobi Only

All applications must be submitted via the SAYouth.mobi platform, which will serve as the sole recruitment source for the 2025 intake.

“The DBE will be working with SAYouth.mobi for the recruitment of young people. This will be the only source for recruitment.”

The department has warned the public against applying through other websites or individuals, as scammers have previously misused the initiative to target young people.

The platform is zero-rated, meaning users can access and use it without data costs. The DBE has urged applicants to register early or update their login details in preparation for the opening date.

“The DBE would therefore like to encourage young people to register on SAYouth.mobi, or if registered in the past, ensure that login details are renewed, ensuring readiness for the application process.”

Additional Requirements and Benefits

Applicants are encouraged to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), which will be required during the application process.

Participants in the programme gain valuable work experience and soft skills, while also earning a monthly stipend.

Funding and Support

Phase 5 of the BEEI will be funded by the National Treasury and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). UIF allocations will be managed by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
