The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has officially announced the timeline for the release of the 2024 Matric results. To ensure a smooth process, the DBE has outlined key dates and milestones for the administration of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.

The 2024 NSC exams will commence on 21 October 2024, and conclude in late November.

A total of 732,448 full-time candidates have registered for the NSC exams, marking a slight increase from the previous year. Additionally, 136,195 part-time candidates are participating in various subjects.

Key Dates and Milestones

  • Mark Capture: All matric exam marks are expected to be captured by 16 December 2024.
  • NEIC Meeting: The National Examination Irregularities Committee (NEIC) will meet on 28 December 2024, to address any irregularities and ensure the credibility of the results.
  • Umalusi Standardisation and Approval: Umalusi will conduct its standardisation meeting on 24 December 2024. The final approval of results will be announced on 7 January 2025.
  • Ministerial Announcement: Basic Education Minister will unveil the national matric results on 15 January 2025, providing details on provincial pass rates and performance categories.
  • Provincial Release of Results: Matric results will be made available to learners on 16 January 2025, both at schools and online.

To maintain the integrity of the exams at 6,900 exam centers, the DBE and Umalusi have implemented robust security measures. These measures are designed to prevent cheating and ensure that the results accurately reflect candidates' abilities.
