The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has officially announced the release date for the 2024 matric results—a critical milestone for thousands of learners across South Africa.
The 2024 IEB exams began on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, with the Life Orientation CAT Part B paper. Most exams were conducted during October and November, concluding on Thursday, 28 November 2024, with the Agricultural Management Practice paper.
This year, approximately 13,250 learners were registered to write the IEB NSC exams, which are renowned for their high academic standards and rigorous assessment processes.
When Will IEB Matric Results Be Released?
Following tradition, IEB matric results will be available one day earlier than those of public school learners. This means that IEB candidates can access their results on 13 January 2025.
This announcement signifies a major milestone for the IEB class of 2024, who have dedicated significant effort throughout their final school year.
How to Check Your IEB Matric Results
Once the results are finalized, the IEB will forward them to schools, which will distribute them to candidates. Learners can also access their results through the following methods:

- Visit the IEB website on the day of release to view your results.
SMS
- If the IEB already has your cellphone number, your results will automatically be sent to you.
- Alternatively, you can register to receive your results via SMS by following these steps:
- Send an SMS to 35135 with the following details:
Results (your examination number) (your date of birth in yyyymmdd format) - You will receive a confirmation message that your registration was successful.
- On the release date, your results will be sent to you via SMS.

Certificates/Statements
- The official statement of results, issued by UMALUSI, will be sent to schools in April 2025 following the matric results release.
