The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will fund thousands of TVET College students in 2025. The scheme has now confirmed the NSFAS allowance amounts for April 2025.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to eligible students enrolled in approved courses at TVET colleges. This funding covers Tuition and registration fees. Accommodation, food, and learning materials allowances are also provided to students.
How Much Are 2025 TVET NSFAS Allowances?
Minister of Higher Education and Training, Nobuhle Nkabane, confirmed that NSFAS allowances for TVET College students will increase from R10 000 to R14 600 in 2025, a 46% increase.
NSFAS has now released the exact amounts that TVET College students can expect in April 2025.
Accommodation Allowance
This allowance is paid monthly over 10 months. Students who do not qualify for accommodation allowances receive a transport allowance instead.

Travel Allowance
This allowance is paid monthly for 10 months. Both able-bodied and disabled students receiving a transport allowance will receive R802 in April 2025.
Personal Care Allowance
Students living in catered residences receive a personal care allowance of R316 per month, paid over 10 months.
How TVET College Students Receive NSFAS Allowances
TVET College students receive their NSFAS allowances directly into their personal bank accounts.
NSFAS has urged TVET College students to upload their banking details on the myNSFAS portal to ensure timely payments.
Only students with confirmed funding and submitted registration data can add their banking details on the myNSFAS portal.
