Thousands of first time and returning students have submitted applications to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. Applications have closed and students are checking their NSFAS application status daily, but do they get a confirmation letter?

NSFAS applicants will be notified about application results as soon as NSFAS receives confirmation from the institution that an academic offer has been made to the student interested.

Once this has been confirmed, the student will need to sign a bursary agreement so that NSFAS can allocate allowances.

Here’s how to check your funding status:

NSFAS provides bursaries to students who come from poor or working class backgrounds, who plan on studying or are applying to study at one of South Africa's 26 Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges.

Once you have been accepted, NSFAS will allocate allowances for  tuition fees, registration, accommodation, transport, books and other student needs.
