National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) courses are supported by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations and the Department of Higher Education and Training.
These courses incorporate theory and practical application to develop competent graduates. These certifications are registered on the National Qualifications Framework.
Provided that the student is registered at a public tertiary institution, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will cover their NATED course.
Once students have completed their NATED courses, with the help of NSFAS, they may apply to universities that offer degree options that align with their field of interest.
Through obtaining a NATED qualification, students have the opportunity to further their education in an effort to improve their skills.
While most qualifications focus on theory, National Diplomas aim to equip students with the skills needed to do their job.
Work readiness is quite important in these courses because they aim to provide students with the ability to excel at their chosen vocation.
The course requires students to partake in an 18-month internship with the intention of allowing them to apply their knowledge practically in a work environment. After completion of the internship, students are encouraged to add it to their CV.
