NSFAS offers deserving students the chance to further their studies at TVET Colleges. These students not only have their tuition fees covered but they also receive multiple allowances.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a bursary provided by the Department of Higher Education to help students reach their goals through funding their tertiary education.

NSFAS students are required to study accredited courses at TVET colleges or public universities.

The bursary covers TVET college students’ tuition fees, registration costs and the following allowances:

  • Personal care allowance: All NSFAS funded students receive R2 900 per year.
  • Transport allowance: Students who live 40km away from their campus qualify for a transport allowance and will receive R7 350 per annum.
  • Private accommodation allowance (more than 40km from the campus):
    • Accommodation in an urban area - R25 200 per year.
    • Accommodation in a peri-urban area - R18 900 per year.
    • Accommodation in a rural area - R15 750 per year.
  • College hostel accommodation: Students receive R33 000 per annum.

These students receive their allowances via the NSFAS wallet system.
