Are you tracking your NSFAS application and notice that your application status says that it is on the ‘Filtering’ stage? Well, here is what it means.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allows students to track their NSFAS application status through their myNSFAS account.

When viewing your NSFAS application status, it is important to know exactly what it means. If you've gone to check your NSFAS application status and saw that it's on 'Filtering', there's no need for you to worry.

'Filtering' means that the NSFAS system verifies whether the student is a returning student and if they have any previous qualifications.

There’s no timeframe when it comes to when your NSFAS status changes and how long it will take for your application to be processed.

Students are encouraged to monitor their myNSFAS portal for updates.

NSFAS provides bursaries to individuals who plan on studying or are applying to study at one of South Africa's 26 Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges.

NSFAS bursaries cover more than just your tuition fees. NSFAS will also cover your registration, accommodation, transport, books and other student needs.
