Capitec Bank is one of a handful of banks in South Africa that offer students a tertiary funding alternative in the form of a repayable loan. Like many of the other bank loan options available, Capitec student loans cover more than just tuition costs.

Capitec Bank’s student loan option is set up slightly differently from that of other banks. They have adopted a Credit-for-Education system which functions over an extended term. The loan differentiates itself from others, offering up to R250 000 loan cover over 84 months at a discounted rate.

Thus, the loan is built for repayment over extended periods, making the instalments much more affordable for the student. Once the student has met the necessary requirements, which can be accessed here, to qualify for the loan option, they can expect the following to be covered:

  • Tuition Costs
  • Accomodation
  • Learning material
  • Related learning equipment

Each rate at which the loan is covered is dependent on the partner institution that the student plans to pursue their studies at. For more information, including how to apply for the loan through the different partner institutions, click here.
