Applications are now open for the Absa Fellowship Programme 2026, a leadership-focused scholarship initiative that supports talented young South Africans with strong academic results and the potential to become future changemakers.

The programme goes beyond financial assistance by developing leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation skills that can help shape Africa's future.

About The Absa Fellowship Programme

The Absa Fellowship Programme aims to empower young leaders with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to drive positive change in their communities and industries.

Each year, 50 exceptional applicants are selected to join the programme. Successful fellows receive support that helps prepare them for leadership roles in business, government, entrepreneurship and society.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 25 years old
  • Achieve an academic average of at least 65%
  • Submit either June 2025 preliminary results or final Matric results
  • Be enrolling as a first-year student at a South African public university in 2026

Eligible Fields Of Study

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in one of the following areas:

  • Commerce
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Health Sciences (excluding Medicine and Veterinary Science)
  • Creative Arts
  • Digital and Data Design

Applications must be submitted using the prospective student's own personal details.

Application Process

Phase 1: Pre-Screening

Applications are assessed against the minimum eligibility criteria.

Phase 2: Psychometric Assessment

Successful applicants will receive an email containing a voucher code to complete a psychometric assessment.

Phase 3: Shortlisting

Candidates are shortlisted based on their assessment results.

Phase 4: Interviews

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in interviews.
