The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that interviews and the contracting process will take place between 19 May and 31 May 2025. Applicants selected for interviews will receive an SMS from the school or relevant Provincial Education Department (PED) between 19 and 26 May 2025.
What Documents Do You Need?
If you are shortlisted and invited for an interview, you must provide the following documents to the school or PED:
- Certified copy of your ID or passport
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A testimonial (from a former school, local chief, church leader, or previous employer)
- Certified copy of your matric certificate and highest qualification (if applicable)
- Police clearance certificate
It’s important to note that matric is not a requirement for certain teaching assistant roles.
About the BEEI Programme
The Basic Education Employment Initiative has already created more than one million temporary jobs across the country. In Phase 5, the programme aims to create over 200,000 job opportunities for unemployed youth.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R4,000 for a period of six months, along with an additional R30 for data. Work is scheduled to begin on 2 June 2025.
