The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that the 2024 Matric exams will kick off on Monday, 21 October 2024, and conclude in late November. This pivotal milestone marks the culmination of years of hard work for South African students.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has also released its 2024 Matric Exam Timetable. IEB exams commenced on Tuesday, 10 September 2024.

Results of remarking will be released from 14 March 2025 and will be available at the school/exam centre where the candidate sat for their 2024 examinations.
How to Access Matric Results
On the morning of January 16, thousands of matriculants will eagerly visit their respective schools or exam centers to collect their results. For convenience, candidates can also check their matric results online.
Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results. Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before 21 February 2025.
Matric Rechecks and Remarks
If a matriculant is dissatisfied with their results or suspects any errors, they can apply for a recheck or remark. This process involves a thorough reevaluation of the exam papers.

Matric Rewrites
For candidates seeking to improve their results, the May/June matric rewrite examination is an option. Applications for the 2025 May/June rewrites will close on 7 February 2025.
