Unfortunately, if you did not pass your Grade 12 exams, you are not eligible for NSFAS funding.
You may want to rewrite your matric exams because you did not pass your matric or you may want to improve your results to be accepted into the tertiary institution of your choice and pursue your dreams.
However, once you pass your matric you will be considered for funding.
NSFAS funds students who wish to study at a public university or TVET college and both institutions require students to have their Grade 12 certificate.
Students also need to meet the following criteria to qualify for the bursary:
- South African citizens.
- All SASSA grant beneficiaries are eligible.
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year.
- Persons with disabilities combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum.
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose combined household income is not more than R122 000 per year.
Interested students may apply for NSFAS online or with help from application centres located all around South Africa.
