When you apply for NSFAS funding, your application will be reviewed and checked to see if you meet all the NSFAS requirements needed in order to be approved. This is how NSFAS will let you know if your application was successful.
NSFAS has said:
Application results will be communicated to all applicants once NSFAS received confirmation from the institution that an academic offer has been made to you.
NSFAS will inform their applicants of their decision before the start of the academic year. The message will be forwarded to applicants via SMS, email and myNSFAS account.
You can also check your NSFAS application status by logging into your myNSFAS account and checking your NSFAS application status.
Once you have had your NSFAS application approved, NSFAS funding will cover your student expenses until you finish your qualification but this is dependent on whether you continue to meet the academic criteria.
The NSFAS bursary will be made available to students via NSFAS allowances which will cover tuition fees, accommodation, transport costs, learning materials and food.
NSFAS funding is offered to students who come from poor or working-class backgrounds that are interested in attending a university or a TVET College. Students interested in attending private institutions do not qualify.
