Here's When Nsfas Appeals For 2023 Will Close

The financial aid provider says that these applications were rejected due to not meeting the stipulated funding criteria.

However, the appeal functionality on the myNSFAS portal is active and all applicants with unsuccessful application status are encouraged to submit an appeal application before the appeals window closes.

Students can appeal the rejected application within 30 days of receiving the funding outcome. 

Here’s how to submit a Nsfas appeal:

1. Go to myNSFAS.
2. Log into your myNSFAS account.
3. Click the 'Track Funding Progress' option.
4. Check the application progress tabs.
5. If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the 'Submit Appeal Tab'.
6. Once you are on the 'Application Appeal' page, you can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status.
7. You are then able to choose the appeal reason.
8. Upload certified supporting documents to support your reason.
9. Click 'Submit Appeal'.

It is important to note that NSFAS applicants who want to appeal will also need to complete and download a relevant propensity letter.

Here are the propensity letters available for download:

1. Failure to meet academic eligibility (PDF)
2. Appealing N+1 (PDF)
3. N+2 students with disability (PDF)
4. Registered for 50% or less (final year course credits) to complete (PDF)

The scheme also reminded students that any appeals submitted via email will not be accepted and Nsfas will respond to all appeals within 30 days of them being submitted. 

Speaking on the scheme’s readiness for the year, the Nsfas team affirmed that it was committed to improving and enhancing its communication systems.

As a result, they recently introduced a Nsfas Whatsapp line where students can add the scheme on 078 519 8006 or dial the USSD code *120*67327 for updates on their application status.

Nsfas says it will make more options will be available on these platforms as the scheme continues to enhance the systems.

Furthermore, all successful Nsfas beneficiaries are encouraged to register for the Nsfas bank account to enable Nsfas to pay their allowances, which can be done via the NSFAS website http://nsfas.org.za.

In an effort to bring resources and information closer to students, Nsfas has temporarily placed officials in universities and TVET colleges across the country to assist in resolving any queries or challenges students may have.

Officials will be on campus grounds until tomorrow, 17 February 2023.
