How To Check NSFAS Status For Semester 2

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) recently opened applications for semester 2 bursaries specifically for students enrolled in approved programs at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.

Good news for TVET students who applied! You can now easily check your application status through the myNSFAS student portal.

Since TVET colleges often operate on different academic calendars compared to universities, NSFAS offers dedicated application windows to ensure TVET students receive funding that aligns with their specific semester start dates.

How to Check NSFAS Status

Here's how to check your application status on myNSFAS:

1. Log in: Visit the myNSFAS student portal, the main login point on the NSFAS website.
2. Enter your credentials: Use your username and password to sign in.
3. Track your progress: Click on "Track Your Funding Progress" to see your application status.

The application deadline for NSFAS Semester 2 funding is 26 July 2024. There's still time to apply if you haven't already.

How to Apply for NSFAS

If you're a TVET student interested in applying for NSFAS funding, follow these steps:

1. Visit the NSFAS website: Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the "myNSFAS" tab.
2. Create an account: If you don't have one already, create a myNSFAS account.
3. Start your application: Select the "APPLY" tab and complete all the required sections.
4. Upload documents: Make sure to upload all the required supporting documents.
5. Submit your application: Once everything is complete, click "Submit" to finalize your application.

TVET College Student Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for an NSFAS bursary or loan as a TVET college student, you must:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Be registered or planning to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 program.
• Comply with the N+Rule (explained on the NSFAS website).
• Not be enrolled in a qualification that duplicates previously state-funded learning.
• Have a combined gross family income of up to R350,000 per year for a bursary or up to R600,000 for an NSFAS loan.
