As part of its effort to make student funding accessible to applicants and existing funded students, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) introduced a new allowance disbursement process.

Qualifying and funded students can now withdraw their NSFAS allowances using the recently introduced Nsfas Mastercard. The card consists of several beneficial features to accommodate student budgets.

One of them is that students don’t even need to have the card on them to make withdrawals, provided that they have downloaded the eZaga app. Here is how the cardless withdrawal process works according to NSFAS.

How to withdraw money using cardless on the eZaga app

  • Step 1: Log into the eZaga App
  • Step 2: Tap on “Withdraw Zaga”
  • Step 3: Tap on  “Nedbank ATM”
  • Step 4: Enter the amount you would to withdraw and process
  • Step 5: The voucher code will be received within an hour

Students have been advised to dial *120*001# and choose "get voucher" if they haven't received their voucher code within an hour. Their code will then be sent to them via SMS. Withdrawals can be made at Nedbank ATMs or the following retailers: Pick & Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, and Usave.

In addition to this, Nsfas adopted several preventative measures to guarantee that the system would be safe and simple for students to use. To assist students across the nation, a call centre facility will also be made accessible.
