Are you interested in applying for a refund from NSFAS as a Unisa student? If yes, then you will need to meet the following criteria.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) refund requirements for Unisa students are as follows:

  • All students funded by NSFAS will receive a refund if they paid the registration fee to activate their registration.
  • A refund will be issued when NSFAS has confirmed that the registration data has been successfully processed by Unisa.

Students are reminded that an application for a refund is not needed.

Funding applications for the 2022 academic year will remain open until 7 January 2022.

Prospective students who fit the following criteria may qualify for funding:

  • Applied for admission to the 2022 academic year for their first undergraduate qualification.
  • Returning students who took a gap year in 2021 and have an incomplete undergraduate qualification and have not exceeded the N+ rule.
  • New and returning students who did not study in 2021 but were approved for funding in 2021.
  • Currently receiving another NSFAS bursary but want to move to the NSFAS DHET grant.

Unfortunately, students who already completed an undergraduate degree or diploma are not eligible for the bursary.

Those who received funding in 2021 for their current degree, do not need to reapply.
