How To Update Your NSFAS Application Information

When submitting your NSFAS application, you are required to attach certain details about yourself as well as supporting documents to the scheme's online portal. Submitting these documents allows your application to be processed.

When applying for funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), you are required to provide certain information and details that are personal to you, as well as the personal information of your parents or guardians. 

What Personal Details Are Asked for When Applying for NSFAS:

  • Copy of your ID or Birth Certificate
  • ID number
  • Residential Address
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Copy of ID or Birth Certificate of your parents/guardians or spouse (if applicable)
  • Consent Form
  • Proof of Household Income

To input all these details for your application, you will need to create an account on the myNSFAS student portal

How to Create a myNSFAS Account 

  1. First visit the NSFAS website. 
  2. Click on the myNSFAS tab in the top right corner.
  3. Click on register.
  4. Tick on the acceptance option to allow NSFAS to verify and validate the information you have provided.
  5. Type in your ID number as it appears on your ID document.
  6. Type in your name and surname as they appear on your ID Document.
  7. Type in your email address and cellphone number. Your username will be your email address.
  8. Create a password and confirm your password.
  9. Upload a copy of your ID.
  10. Click on register.
  11. After clicking register, a One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the email address and cellphone number you provided.
  12. Check your cellphone and email for the OTP.
  13. Type in the OTP in the tab provided and click submit.
  14. You will then receive another SMS and email confirming that your myNSFAS account has been created. You may now continue with your application.

If you would like to change your application details/information, you may do so by following these easy steps.

How to Change Your NSFAS Application Details/Information:

  • Login on the myNSFAS student portal
  • Enter your username and password, then click SIGN IN.
  • Click on My Personal Details.
  • Remove the incorrect information then update your details.
  • Click on Update Your Details, to save all the changes you have made.

Once you have followed these five steps then your application details will be updated.

NSFAS is a government loan and bursary fund for students to pursue higher education. NSFAS bursary applications and registrations are typically open in the later part of the year for students who want to study in the next calendar year.
