If you've applied to NSFAS and are getting nervous about whether you have been approved, you might be wondering how you will know if you've been approved.

NSFAS has said:

Application results will be communicated to all applicants once NSFAS received confirmation from the institution that an academic offer has been made to you.

When NSFAS has finished with the the decision process, they will let the successful applicants know their status through an SMS, an email and through your myNSFAS account.

To check your application status on your myNSFAS account:

  • Login on the myNSFAS student portal through this link: https://bit.ly/2SWFVh3
  • Enter your username and password, then click SIGN IN!
  • Click on Track Funding Progress.
  • Once you have followed these three easy steps, you will be able to see whether you are funded or not. It may take some time for your application to be successful so please be patient.

Applications for funding through NSFAS closes on 30 November.

A NSFAS bursary covers your tuition, but will have you receive funding such as a transport allowance and accomodation costs, for the other needs you have as a student. If you focus on your academics and pass your courses, you can be funded by NSFAS until the end of your qualification. To be funded by NSFAS, you need to be studying at a public university or TVET college because NSFAS does not fund private institutions.
