The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) opened its Trimester 2 application cycle from 5 May 2023 until 22 May 2023.
However, the government bursary scheme extended its application deadline until 9 June 2023 for students pursuing their studies through one of South Africa’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges.
Here’s How Students Can Apply:
- Go to the NSFAS website.
- Click on the 'myNSFAS' tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account.
- Click on the 'APPLY' tab and complete the sections on the screen.
- Upload required supporting documents where applicable.
- Click on 'Submit'
Students who will be applying for funding through the Scheme have been advised to be diligent when entering their details on the online application system, to prevent them from encountering any delays in the application process.
Students have also been required to have their documents on hand so that they will upload the relevant documentation on the NSFAS application portal.
Should students need further assistance regarding their NSFAS Trimester 2 funding, they may pay a visit to their TVET Colleges’ bursary office.
Why Does NSFAS Reject Some Students' Funding?
NSFAS rejects some students' funding applications for various reasons, such as incomplete or incorrect application forms, not meeting the academic requirements, not providing the required supporting documentation, or exceeding the income threshold.
Additionally, the Scheme may reject applications of students who are already funded by other bursaries or scholarships.
It is important for students to carefully read and follow the application instructions and ensure that they meet all the requirements before submitting their application to increase their chances of receiving funding for their tertiary education.
