The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides comprehensive financial aid to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at public TVET colleges. This includes covering tuition and registration fees, as well as providing allowances for essential expenses like food, accommodation, and learning materials.

Who is Eligible for NSFAS Funding?

  • South African citizens
  • Students registered or intending to register for a PLP (Professional Learning Programme), NC(V) (National Certificate Vocational), or Report 191 programme
  • Students complying with the N+Rule (meaning you haven't previously received NSFAS funding for the same qualification level)
  • Students not enrolled in a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning
  • Applicants from households with a combined gross family income of R350,000 or less per year (for bursary) or R600,000 or less (for loan)

How to Apply for NSFAS

The application process is simple and can be completed online through the myNSFAS portal:

  1. Visit the NSFAS website
  2. Click on the "myNSFAS" tab and create an account (if you haven't already).
  3. Once logged in, click on "APPLY" and complete the online application form.
  4. Upload any required supporting documents.
  5. Submit your application!
