The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has finalised the majority of appeal applications received for 2025.

NSFAS offers comprehensive bursaries and student loans to eligible students enrolled at approved universities and TVET colleges. NSFAS funding covers registration and tuition fees, along with allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

Each year, thousands of students apply for NSFAS support. Those whose applications are unsuccessful have 30 days to submit an appeal, supported by relevant documents, which could reverse the funding decision.

In a recent statement, Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane confirmed that most of the 2025 appeals have been resolved. However, the NSFAS Appeals Tribunal is still reviewing some appeal outcomes to ensure they align with policy and are applied consistently.

The NSFAS Appeals and Tribunals Committee is currently reviewing these outcomes to ensure consistency and appropriate application of policy.

Although no specific date has been set for the completion of these reviews, students are advised to regularly check their appeal status, as they may be required to take additional action.

Applicants might be asked to upload further documents to support their appeal.

Students are encouraged to regularly check their accounts to upload any additional documents requested in relation to their appeals.

  1. Log in to the myNSFAS student portal via the main NSFAS login page.

  2. Enter your username and password, then click "SIGN IN".
