The University of South Africa (Unisa) has confirmed how NSFAS allowances will be paid to students in April 2025.

NSFAS offers bursaries and student loans to eligible students enrolled at public universities and TVET colleges. The funding covers tuition, registration, and allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

Unisa confirmed that students funded by NSFAS will receive allowances for the first six months of 2025.

Payments are made via EFT directly into students’ bank accounts. This is the standard method for all university students.

Students who have not received payment, or who received the incorrect amount, are advised to contact Unisa at DSF-NSFAS [at] unisa.ac.za (DSF-NSFAS[at]unisa[dot]ac[dot]za).

From April 2025, NSFAS allowances will be paid on the 29th of every month.

How To Capture Bank Details for NSFAS Payments

To receive NSFAS allowances, students must follow these steps:

  1. Open the link sent to your myLife email account.

  2. Enter your banking details.

  3. Wait for bank verification.

Unisa reminded students that the bank account must be in their own name, as it will be verified against their Unisa ID number.

No third-party banking details are allowed.

Students should regularly monitor their bank verification status to avoid delays. If verification fails, details must be resubmitted immediately.
