The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced its academic pass requirements for 2025. Students must meet these criteria to remain eligible for funding in the next academic year.

NSFAS Funding and Support

NSFAS provides financial aid to qualifying students enrolled in approved university and TVET college courses. This support covers tuition, registration fees, and allowances for food, accommodation, and study materials.

To continue receiving funding, students must meet specific academic progression requirements set by NSFAS.

University Pass Requirements

University students must pass at least 60% of their modules in 2024 to qualify for NSFAS funding in 2025. This requirement ensures students maintain satisfactory academic progress.

TVET College Pass Requirements

Pass requirements for TVET college students vary based on their course of study:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) [NC(V)]: Students must pass at least five subjects to progress to the next level and retain their bursary.

  • Report 191 (N-Level) Courses: Students must pass a minimum of three subjects in the previous N-Level to qualify for funding at the next level.

  • Occupational Programmes: TVET colleges will determine academic progression requirements for students in these programmes.

NSFAS emphasised that meeting these academic standards is essential for continued financial support.
