The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed the successful disbursement of allowances to students at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. This funding, part of the comprehensive bursary and loan scheme, covers tuition, registration, and living expenses.
"We are pleased to announce that NSFAS has successfully made allowance payments to NSFAS-funded students at TVET Colleges today, 14 March 2025," NSFAS stated.
The scheme clarified that all payments were processed on Friday, 14 March 2025, but acknowledged that students may receive funds at varying times due to differing bank processing speeds.
The time of receiving these funds may differ between students depending on the banking institutions they use.
NSFAS reiterated that only students who have uploaded their banking details onto the myNSFAS platform will receive their allowances. "All students whose registration confirmations were sent to NSFAS have received their funds, provided they have uploaded their banking details," the scheme confirmed.
NSFAS urged students to use their allowances responsibly and for their intended educational purposes. "You are reminded to use the funds responsibly and for the purposes related to learning," the organisation stated.
2025 Allowance Breakdown
NSFAS has detailed the 2025 allowance amounts for TVET college students, which vary based on accommodation type and location.
- Personal Care Allowance: Students in catered residences receive R316 per month.
- Living Allowance:
- Students with disabilities in catered metro accommodation: R1,716 per month.
- Students with disabilities in non-catered metro accommodation: R2,080 per month.
- Students with disabilities in non-catered non-metro accommodation: R2,080 per month.
- Students in non-catered non-metro accommodation: R1,716 per month.
- Students receiving a transport allowance: R1,716 per month.
- Students with disabilities receiving a transport allowance: R2,080 per month.
- Transport Allowance: Students not residing in college or private accommodation receive R802 per month.

NSFAS confirmed that accommodation allowances are paid directly to institutions or private accommodation providers.
