Universities That Will Offer 2025 Late Applications

Most universities in South Africa have closed their applications for the 2025 academic year. However, prospective students still have a chance to apply through late application processes.

Universities began accepting 2025 applications in March, with the final deadlines in November. Late applications provide a second chance for students who missed the initial cutoff.

According to Universities South Africa (USAf), several institutions will reopen applications to fill remaining spaces, aiming to admit 201,925 first-time students in 2025.

Universities Accepting Late Applications

USAf has identified ten universities that will accommodate late applications:

They also announced that there will be three Universities which will accommodate walk-in applications:

  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
  • Rhodes University (RU)
  • University of Zululand (Unizulu)

Funding Options for 2025

NSFAS

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) offers funding to eligible students. Applications are currently open and will close on 15 December 2024.

Funza Lushaka Bursary

Aspiring teachers can apply for the Funza Lushaka Bursary, designed to fund teaching studies. Applications are open until 26 January 2025.
