If you are a NSFAS funded student studying towards your tertiary qualification, then you may be wondering when you should reapply for the NSFAS bursary. Well we've got all the answers you need below.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funds disadvantaged South African students who are studying at public universities and TVET colleges.

The NSFAS bursary covers more than just tuition, they also cover registration costs and provide students with various allowances. These allowances cover transport, living expenses and learning materials.

If you are currently studying and being funded by NSFAS then you may be wondering when you should reapply for the bursary.

NSFAS has stated that if you meet any of these conditions then you will need to reapply

  • If you are moving from a TVET College to a university.
  • If you took a gap year.
  • If you are moving from a Higher Certificate to an Undergraduate degree.
  • If you were not funded by NSFAS.

You need to meet the following criteria to qualify for NSFAS funding:

  • Can be a SASSA grant recipient.
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum.
