Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges offer a wide range of vocational courses catering to students with a diverse range of interests.
Courses offered at TVET colleges equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to obtain employment or undertake entrepreneurial opportunities. Students who graduate from TVET colleges go on to become skilled plumbers, engineers, electricians, marketers and hospitality professionals.
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) provides bursaries to deserving students enrolled in academic programmes at public universities and colleges.
The DHET bursary, also known as the National Student Financial Aid (Nsfas) bursary will cover some courses offered by TVET colleges.

It's important to note that students must meet the Nsfas bursary requirements before they receive funding from the DHET.
To Qualify For A Nsfas Bursary, A Student must be
- A South African citizen
- Enrolled in approved TVET college course
- Have a household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum(Able-bodied students)
- Have a household income not exceeding R600,000 per annum (Disabled students)
- Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
