Through Phase 5 of the initiative, the DBE aims to create over 200,000 teaching assistant positions for unemployed youth across the country. These jobs are targeted at individuals aged 18 to 34 who are currently not in education, employment, or training.
Register on SAYouth.mobi to Apply
To be considered for these roles, applicants must register on the SAYouth.mobi platform — the only official channel for submitting applications.
The DBE will be working with SAYouth.mobi for the recruitment of young people. This will be the only source for recruitment.
In response to high interest in the initiative and concerns around fraudulent platforms, the DBE has cautioned applicants to avoid applying through any unauthorised websites. Scammers have previously misused the BEEI name to exploit jobseekers.
The SAYouth.mobi platform is zero-rated, meaning that it can be accessed without using mobile data. This ensures that all youth have free access to apply for jobs regardless of their financial situation.
The DBE encourages young people to register on SAYouth.mobi or, if already registered, ensure login details are updated to be ready for the application process.
R4,000 Monthly Stipend for Successful Applicants
Individuals selected for Phase 5 teaching assistant positions will receive a monthly stipend of R4,000 for a six-month contract, along with an additional R30 monthly data allowance to support online learning and communication.
Candidates are also encouraged to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), as this will be required during the recruitment process.
