The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has reopened applications for the 2023 academic year for college students. Students and prospective students studying at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college are encouraged to apply for funding.
TVET College students can apply for funding provided by NSFAS for the second trimester. This is because the application period for trimester 2 applications opened last week.
NSFAS applications for TVET college students must be submitted on the NSFAS website. Students have until 22 May 2023 to submit a NSFAS funding application for Trimester 2.
TVET colleges offer courses that are vocational by nature, aiming to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to find employment in several career fields. This knowledge and skills can also be used by students wanting to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
How To Apply For NSFAS As A TVET College Student
Step 1: Visit the NSFAS website
Step 2: Click on the “myNSFAS” tab
Step 3: Create a myNSFAS account
Step 4: Click on the “APPLY” tab and complete the sections on the screen
Step 5: Upload all the required documents for NSFAS applications.
Step 6: Click on “Submit” to complete your NSFAS application.
It's important to note that applications can be submitted online, at your TVET college bursary office or the NSFAS head office.
Students who do not apply for NSFAS funding in Trimester 2 can apply for funding later this year. NSFAS applications for Trimester 3 are expected to open in September 2023.

NSFAS provides comprehensive funding for TVET college students. Not only will a student’s tuition and registration fees be fully paid by NSFAS, but the financial aid scheme also provides them with allowances to cover costs associated with their studies including money for accommodation, living expenses and learning material expenses.
