The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) recently opened bursary applications for students enrolled in or planning to enrol in programmes at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.

Students have until 22 May 2023 to submit a NSFAS bursary application for Trimester 2 applications. The Trimester 2 application period opened on 5 May 2023.

Prospective applicants who require funding for Semester 2 will have to wait until July 2023 to apply for NSFAS. Semester 2 NSFAS applications will open on 17 July 2022 and will close on 31 July 2023. This gives students a short window of opportunity to apply for funding.

Trimester 3 applications are to open from the 4th of September 2023 and close on the 20th of Septemeber 2023

NSFAS encouraged students to ensure they complete their application before submitting it. This is because several students created a profile and were under the impression this served as their bursary application.

It is important to remind new applicants to finish the application process before submission rather than just creating a profile and considering themselves to have applied.
