Applications for the NSFAS 2023 academic cycle opened on 28 September 2022 and will close on 31 January 2023. Prospective applicants will have to create a myNSFAS account before they can submit their 2023 application.
During his press briefing on the 2023 application process, Higher Education and Training Minister, Blade Nzimande explained that the application process has been simplified and the questions asked were formulated to make it easier to understand.
The first step in the NSFAS application process is to make a myNSFAS account. The myNSFAS account will be used for submitting applications, updating any personal information or to track the progress of applications.
New applicants can create their myNSFAS accounts online using a cell phone, tablet, computer or any other electronic device.
To register for a myNSFAS account follow these steps:
- Visit the www.nsfas.org.za website.
- Click on the myNSFAS tab at the top right of your screen.
- Enter your personal details as they appear on your identity document.
- Enter your valid contact details (NSFAS will use this to communicate important updates regarding your application)
- Accept terms and conditions by ticking on the box provided.
- Create a password to protect your account, confirm password and then click on ‘CREATE’
- Once you've completed the above steps a message confirming your account creation will pop up on the screen
Students are reminded to keep their passwords and personal details private to avoid identity theft or scammers from accessing their profile.
